Former Marquette Basketball Player Now Has A Balloon Gift Box Business
Dominic James had a nice four-year career for Marquette's men's basketball team from 2005-2009, playing overseas for a bit after graduating. But these days, he's running a balloon business with his wife. It's quite the career change.
Forget everything you know about balloons. OK, did you do it? Good. James and his wife Angela Phillips have created Pulloons, gift boxes containing balloons—and other small things—that automatically inflate when you open them. There's a commercial:
Let James sell you on this. From Fox Sports South:
"Most of the time when you go buy balloons, you've got to drag them out of the store or get them filled up and get them in your car. It's just a hassle," James said. "But to get them in a gift box where you can ship to your friends wherever they are and then they open it up and it inflates itself?"
He makes a good point.
Additionally, James changed his last name. He's now Dominic Wright, switching his surname to that of his previously estranged father.
The Pulloons business has already partnered with stores in Atlanta and Tennessee, and rivals former Duke center Brian Zoubek's cream puff shop for the most interesting business pursuit after college basketball.
