Florida Pitchers Hit With Felony Charges; Allegedly Climbed A Crane
Two pitchers from the tenth-ranked Florida baseball team spent Sunday night in the Alachua County Jail after being charged with felony trespassing charges. Cops say the pair climbed a crane inside a marked construction zone on campus in Gainesville just a day after they pitched the Gators to a 12-5 win over South Carolina.
A.J. Puk is the team’s ace, leading the Gators in strikeouts and wins this season, while Kirby Snead has made more than a dozen appearances in a relief role. Puk was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 35th round coming out of high school, but elected to attend Florida instead.
If convicted, the pair could face up to five years in prison.
