Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-Imagn Images OAKMONT, Pa. -- The final round of the U.S. Open was suspended at 4:01 p.m. Sunday due to heavy rain at Oakmont Country Club.
The rain gear and umbrellas had come out in the half-hour leading up to the official delay. As the storm picked up, multiple greens around the course became slick with rainwater and unplayable.
At the time of the delay, Sam Burns held a one-shot edge over Australia's Adam Scott at 2 under and 1 under par, respectively. Both players were 2 over through seven holes. England's Tyrrell Hatton and Norway's Viktor Hovland were tied for third at 1 over.
