ESPN Shuts Down Curt Schilling For The Rest Of The Season

Curt Schilling was punished for his bad meme about Nazis and Muslims with a break from calling games, but his longwinded emails to bloggers seem to have extended that suspension. ESPN announced today that the baseball analyst wouldn’t appear on TV for the rest of the MLB season.

The statement:

At all times during the course of their engagement with us, our commentators are directly linked to ESPN and are the face of our brand. We are a sports media company. Curt’s actions have not been consistent with his contractual obligations nor have they been professionally handled; they have obviously not reflected well on the company. As a result, he will not appear on ESPN through the remainder of the regular season and our Wild Card playoff game.

Richard Deitsch had reported on Aug. 31 that ESPN intended to bring back Schilling for the Sept. 6 broadcast of Sunday Night Baseball. Schilling’s emails to Dan Levy of Awful Announcing were published on Sept. 1, and plans changed.
