Eagles, Bruins, Racers Do The Dance Of Joy
This image was lost some time after publication, but you can still view it [object Object] . Congratulations go out to Winthrop, Belmont, and Murray State for becoming the second, third, and fourth teams to get themselves into the NCAA Tournament. We won't know until next week if any of them are getting #1 seeds, though.
Winthrop won the Big South (they really should change it to the Dirty South) tournament over Coastal Carolina earlier this afternoon by a score of 51-50. To be honest, I'm a little upset that the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers didn't get in the tourney, because I was kind of hoping to get a definition for "Chanticleer."
In the Atlantic Sun, Belmont beat Lipscomb to get to the Big Dance, despite the fact that they're a Southern Bapist university that doesn't allow dancing. Belmont counts Brad Paisley and Trisha Yearwood among their alumni, and it's got to be torture for those poor kids to be teased with the hot beats of Brad Paisley and not be allowed to dance.
And the Murray State Racers did Popeye Jones proud and polished off the Samford Bulldogs to earn the automatic bid from the Ohio Valley Conference. It'll be Murray State's 6th tournament appearance in the last 10 years, which makes them the best team ever among teams who have logos featuring jockeys.
Just 61 teams to go.
