Ducks' Shawn Horcoff Suspended 20 Games For Using PEDs [Update]
The NHL announced today that Anaheim Ducks center Shawn Horcoff will be suspended for 20 games without pay for violating the league’s performance enhancing substances policy.
The Ducks published the league’s statement to their team site. Naturally, details are scarce:
Anaheim Ducks forward Shawn Horcoff has been suspended for 20 games, without pay, for violating the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the suspension is accompanied by mandatory referral to the NHL/NHLPA Program for Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health for evaluation and possible treatment.
The National Hockey League will have no further comment on this matter.
The 37-year-old will lose $357,526.88 during his suspension.
Update (1:52 p.m.): Horcoff released a statement, and said he violated the policy after he “tried a treatment” for an injury from last fall.
