Vasquez-Imagn Images Leo Carlsson scored the game-tying goal with 1:31 remaining in the third period and Troy Terry and Mason McTavish converted in the shootout, lifting the host Anaheim Ducks to a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
Terry tucked the puck between the pads of Darcy Kuemper in the shootout and McTavish also tallied for the Ducks, who concluded a six-game homestand with a 4-2-0 record.
Anaheim's Ville Husso was perfect in the shootout and finished with 23 saves in his first NHL game this season. Husso was recalled from San Diego of the American Hockey League on Wednesday with fellow goaltender Lukas Dostal set to miss two-to-three weeks due to an upper-body injury.
Carlsson, who converted from the doorstep on the tying goal, also notched two assists.
Chris Kreider scored a power-play goal and defensemen Olen Zellweger and Pavel Mintyukov also tallied for the Ducks.
Alex Laferriere, Kevin Fiala, Alex Turcotte and defenseman Joel Edmundson each scored a goal and Kuemper made 27 saves for the Kings, who have lost four of their last five games (1-1-3).
A healthy scratch in Los Angeles' previous game, Turcotte converted defenseman Brandt Clarke's saucer pass at the doorstep to give his team a 3-2 lead at 3:23 of the third period. Turcotte's goal was his first of the season.
Edmundson doubled the advantage 3 1/2 minutes later with a shot from the point. Corey Perry, who spent his first 14 seasons with Anaheim, appeared to deflect the puck from in close, however.
Mintyukov halved the deficit with 9:18 remaining before Carlsson's late goal.
Laferriere slapped a loose puck between the pads of Husso to open the scoring with 2:12 remaining in the first period, however Kreider converted Troy Terry's centering feed to forge a 1-1 tie exactly nine minutes into the second.
Fiala wired a shot from the left circle that sailed off the crossbar and into the net to regain Los Angeles' lead 63 seconds later. That advantage was short-lived, however, as Zellweger converted from in close just 59 seconds after that.
