Dikembe Mutombo Wants You To Know That He Did Not Actually Send An Email Asking For Money [Update]
Gary Gershoff/ [object Object] Dikembe Mutombo has apparently been targeted by scammers. The four-time Defensive Player of the Year said that the culprits broke into his email account and sent out a dispatch suggesting he’d been robbed in the Philippines and needed money:
As Mutombo explained in a follow-up video, “My email was hacked by these crazy people. I don’t know why. They need to get a life.”
If you have received a sketchy email from the second all-time leader in blocks, pass it along: giri.nathan@deadspin.com.
Update (5:07 p.m. ET): Dikembe Mutombo has never been in the Philippines, is currently in the USA, and still wants you to know that he never sent that email asking for money.
