Derrick Mason Says Roger Goodell Is A Joke For HGH Stance
This is not going to make America's $1 Commissioner very happy: Derrick Mason, Ravens wide receiver and an NFL vet so tenured that he debuted with the Tennessee Oilers, thinks Roger Goodell is a joke.
Here's what Mason had to say, after Goodell spoke at—ugh, really—a high school about why HGH is bad. (The commish now resembles the hapless mayor who thanks the superhero after he saves the city, just before we segue into cereal commercials.)
"He needs to stop crying about blood tests and HGH. He needs to try to get a deal done, that's what he needs to do. He's been on this crusade about HGH, but he needs to be on a crusade about getting these owners together and trying to work out a deal. To me, he's a joke, because every time I look, he's talking about performance enhancements instead of talking about trying to figure out a way to make sure football is played in August."
When asked, during his appearance on 105.7-FM's Norris and Davis Show, whether he'd repeat his comments to Goodell's face, Mason said, Yeah. He's a grown man and I'm a grown man." But players can't be fined during the lockout, so Mason's fairly safe in his fighting words.
And no, we would not say that to his face.
