Deion Sanders Denies Shelving Florida Recruits At All-America Game Due To FSU Bias
Photo: Gail Burton/ [object Object] Deion Sanders serves as one of the coaches at an annual high school football All-America game, though it seems that not all of his players were pleased with the (mostly ceremonial) job he did. Dual-threat quarterback Emory Jones, ranked as the fourth-best player in Georgia by ESPN, tossed just three passes last night, which was fewer than any of his fellow quarterbacks on Sanders’s Team Highlight. He apparently told reporters after the game that he wished he was given more playing time, shortly before dropping an unsubtle subtweet.
A few more of Jones’s fellow All-Americans talked some shit about Sanders (Jones retweeted Jacob Copeland’s Tweet.)
Copeland and Hunter are as-yet uncommitted, though they’re being recruited by Florida. Sanders, a Florida State alumnus, reportedly has some interest in returning to that school as an assistant coach, and was accused by a fan (whom he later blocked) of stymieing Jones due to a malignant FSU bias. His response? ‘Who the shit is Emory Jones?’, more or less.
So if you were still wondering whether Deion Sanders deliberately fucked with a few incoming Florida players because of a petty grudge against the Gators, no, he doesn’t even know who he’s coaching. Hope that settles things.
