Crew complete transfer of Diego Rossi to CF Monterrey

The Columbus Crew have transferred their leading scorer, All-Star forward Diego Rossi, to CF Monterrey in Liga MX.

Multiple reports said the Crew would receive an $8 million transfer fee in the deal.

"Diego was an important part of the Crew's success over the past three years. Our team and supporters will always appreciate his tireless work ethic and passion for our club," Crew general manager Issa Tall in a statement.

Rossi, 28, tallied 37 goals and 20 assists in parts of four seasons with the Crew (2023-26), including six goals and two assists through 15 appearances this year. He contributed to Columbus' 2023 MLS Cup and 2024 Leagues Cup championships.

Before playing for Columbus and Turkey's Fenerbahce (2022-23), Rossi spent 2018 through 2021 with Los Angeles FC. The native of Uruguay was a four-time MLS All-Star (2019, 2021, 2024, 2025) and totaled 85 goals and 41 assists in 192 league matches for LAFC and Columbus.

The news came Friday one day after the Crew brought in midfielder Brais Mendez from Real Sociedad in Spain's La Liga. Mendez, 29, fills the designated player slot Rossi previously held on the Columbus roster.
