Craig James Is A Christian Martyr, According To Craig James
After a disastrous senate run, Craig James landed himself a gig at Fox Sports Southwest—for all of one show before being dumped. Officially, the higher-ups at Fox were caught by surprise by the regional network’s hire of the all-around toxic James, and he was tossed out before any deal was official. Now James maintains he was fired because he’s too conservative for Fox.
James speaks with Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro, whose last exclusive was reporting that Chuck Hagel received campaign donations from “Friends of Hamas,” which doesn’t exist and started life as a joke. Citing a very unspokesmanlike quote from a Fox spokesperson claiming James’s anti-gay comments were a reason for his ouster, James’s attorneys have sent a letter to Fox presaging legal action. It claims that James, who killed five Mary Magdalenes while at SMU, is being persecuted for his religion.
“I was shocked that my personal religious beliefs were not only the reason for Fox Sports firing me but I was completely floored when I read stories quoting Fox Sports representatives essentially saying that people of faith are banned from working at Fox Sports,” James told Breitbart News. “That is not right and surely someone made a terrible mistake.”
James continued, “I have worked in broadcasting for twenty-four years and have always treated my colleagues with respect and dignity regardless of their background or personal beliefs. I believe it is essential in our business to maintain professional relationships with people from a diverse background and have tolerance for those of different beliefs. I have never discussed my faith while broadcasting and it has never been an issue until now.”
James is represented by the Liberty Institute, a conservative Christian advocacy group that wants to “reestablish religious liberty”—but only a certain strain of religious liberty—”in accordance with the principles of our Founding Fathers.” The group’s letter to Fox demands a reply within 48 hours, or it will go ahead with the steps for a wrongful termination suit.
