Jones was hurt in Sunday's first padded practice of training camp in Oxnard, Calif. An MRI revealed the injury, which is not expected to require surgery.
"It happened right at the first," Jones, who still finished the entire practice, told the team's website. "They're saying it'll be about 2-3 months."
Jones, 26, inked a one-year deal for $3.7 million in March after veteran guard Zack Martin retired. The team added more depth at the position by drafting Tyler Booker with the 12th overall pick in April.
Jones started all 17 games at left guard for Miami last year, bringing his career totals with the Dolphins to 49 games and 30 starts after arriving as an undrafted free agent in 2021.
