Costa Rica Mercifully End Match, Edge Greece In Penalties

Costa Rica-Greece was a case against endless extra time. If they had kept playing, no one would have fucking scored.

After a half of sad soccer, Bryan Ruiz gave Costa Rica the lead in the 52nd minute, and we thought we'd get a winner in 90 minutes. Nope! Sokratis Papastathopoulos knotted the match in the 91st minute, and extra time proved to be useless and painful, so we went to penalties, providing the most excitement of the entire match.

Costa Rica and Greece each converted their first three attempts, and the irony of this match possibly continuing forever due to successful penalties started creeping in until Theofanis Gekas failed in Greece's fourth attempt. Costa Rica's Michael Umaña put his country's fifth attempt in the back of the net, and now Los Ticos continue their unexpected run by taking on the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.
