Corey Brewer Puts Up 51 Points, Including A Halfcourt Buzzer-Beater
The gangly Corey Brewer carried the Timberwolves Friday night, scoring 51 points against a Houston squad disinterested in playing defense. Three of those points came from a deep, well-placed halftime buzzer-beater.
Though it was an ultimately meaningless 112-110 win for the Timberwolves, who are too far back in the West to make the playoffs, Brewer made it memorable (for at least himself). Minnesota had a shortened bench with Kevin Love, Chase Budinger, and Shabazz Muhammad out of action, so Brewer saw extended time and made the most of it. He had 26 points at halftime and kept going from there. As SB Nation pointed out, this was a pretty surprising 50-point game. Brewer's previous scoring high was 29 points.
Ricky Rubio was delighted for Brewer, too.
