Cops: San Diego Sports Anchor Shot Because Of Dispute With Painter 

The San Diego sports anchor shot outside of his home yesterday was targeted by a man who had done painting work on his house, according to police. CBS 8, where anchor Kyle Kraska works, reports that Kraska had seen Mike Montana—the suspected gunman who was arrested yesterday—doing painting work on a neighbors house and hired him. But Kraska became disenchanted with Montana's work:

Villalobos is not only Kraska's sports producer here at CBS 8, they're great friends. He says Kraska told him that Montana became flaky about showing up, and that the work he had done was not the quality he expected. So he paid Montana for his time and supplies and hired someone else to finish the job.

"He didn't owe the guy any money. They had completed their transaction and the guy came back and started demanding more money from Kyle," Villalobos said.

CBS 8 reports that this is not the first violent business dispute Montana has been in:

"Not direct threats, but talking about his guns and how much… how good of a marksman he is and all that. So, insinuated threats. And then it got to the point the girls in the office didn't want to come to work because they were scared of him," Coit said.

Kraska was shot 10 times in the attack, but is in stable condition in the hospital. Meanwhile, Montana is expected to be charged with attempted first degree murder on Friday.
