Concussed Cardinals Safety Couldn't Remember Game He'd Just Played
Arizona Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson had a great game on Sunday, probably the best of his young career. He had 11 tackles—the most of any player—and his team beat Philadelphia 24-20 to advanced to 6-1, tied for the best record in the NFL. It's a game he would cherish forever, except he has no memory of it. Driving after the game, Jefferson had to pull over:
"I don't really remember the game," Jefferson said. "I just remember when I started driving ... I just stopped for 30 minutes. I was like, 'What just happened?' I don't remember what happened. It was kinda scary.
"I went home and watched the film on the iPad. It was like seeing you on auto pilot. It was pretty weird."
Unsurprisingly, Jefferson was diagnosed with a concussion on Monday. He doesn't know when the concussion occurred, but thinks it was on a kickoff. Maybe. Who knows? He won't play on Sunday though, right? He sat in his car doing nothing for a half-hour, and can't remember three hours of his life!
He passed the concussion protocol on Thursday and practiced in a limited role, working on kickoff coverage during the open portion of practice.
Jefferson is saying the right things—"We got a long season ahead of us; I don't want to rush back."—but he's probably going to play Sunday.
