Cleveland Takes 3-1 World Series Lead By Trouncing Cubs 7-2
The Cleveland Indians took a 3-1 lead in the World Series after crushing the Cubs 7-2 in front of 41,706 fans, many of whom paid tens of thousands of dollars to watch their team lose.
Corey Kluber spread five hits over six innings of work, striking out six and giving the well-heeled Wrigleyville faithful little to cheer about.
Jason Kipnis’s three-run homer in the seventh inning was the fatal blow in a game that also saw Carlos Santana homer for Cleveland, a display of little consolation to the tens of thousands in attendance who paid handsomely to experience pure misery.
Dexter Fowler homered in the eighth to bring Andrew Miller’s scoreless streak to an end, but it did little to erase the sadness from Cubs fans’ hearts, or the memory of how much money they handed over to experience such a display of public masochism.
Game 5 is tomorrow night. The Cubs will probably lose that one in front of tens of thousands of fans who invested in their own woe, also.
