Cleveland Gifted A Few Runs To Chicago With Some Dumbass Defense
Screencap via Fox It was a perfectly normal, albeit disappointing, first-inning development when Josh Tomlin followed up two quick outs by laying an easy curveball for Kris Bryant to jerk out of the ballpark. Much less normal, however, was the way the Indians gave up their next two runs to the Cubs.
After the dong, Tomlin gave up hits to Anthony Rizzo and Ben Zobrist. With those two on, Addison Russell sent a routine fly ball to right center. Both Tyler Naquin and Lonnie Chisenhall thought they had a chance to make the catch. Neither did. Rizzo scored easily, but Zobrist had to hustle to get around third. He got home right as the throw did, so he laid out Roberto Perez with a huge hit.
Zobrist has now been both the Cubs’ best baseball and football player of the World Series.
