Cleveland Expected To Bring Back Creaky Veteran Mass That Is Kendrick Perkins
credits: Nick Wass | source: [object Object] One of the last posts to mention Kendrick Perkins on this here blog described him as “a rusty tugboat that washed up onto a basketball court during a hurricane.”
That was more than three years ago, in February of 2015. Extend that metaphor to the present day and Perkins is now something like a corroding hunk of metal, vaguely in the shape of a tugboat, delivered to a basketball court by the uncaring hands of fierce waves after some months away at sea. Which is to say that the center will be signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday for the last spot on their playoff roster, according to Adrian Wojnarowski at ESPN.
Perkins was part of the 2015 Cavaliers crew that went to the NBA Finals and was with the team in training camp this year, though he was waived in the preseason. He played 27 games this season for Cleveland’s D-League affiliate, averaging 8.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 21 minutes of play. His last NBA appearance was nearly two years ago, in April 2016, for the Pelicans.
Perkins is 33.
