Chris Hoy's Parents Can't Believe Their Eyes
Sir Chris Hoy claimed his sixth Olympic gold yesterday in men's keirin, adding to the home nation's medal count and inspiring fanciful ledes, like the following from The Independent:
The knight in navy Lycra pedalled his way past all others last night, securing the crown of Great Britain's most successful ever Olympian in his final Games appearance.
That's pretty neat. Hoy's from Scotland, so the Scots are happy to claim him as their own; Hoy came into the Games as Scotland's most decorated Olympian, and success from other Scots like Andy Murray have made these a very special Olympics indeed. So special, that it's bolstering the always-latent vein of a Scottish independence movement.
