Chicago Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup In Insane Finish
That was just about the nuttiest Stanley-Cup-clinching game you're likely to see. With 1:30 left in the game, the Blackhawks trailed 2-1 and Corey Crawford was heading for the bench for an extra skater. One minute and two Chicago goals later and it was Tuukka Rask heading for his bench.
Boston took the lead with 7:49 left in the third period when Crawford mishandled the puck behind his net, allowing the Bruins' to get set up and swarm the net. Seconds later, Lucic snagged the puck out of mid-air in front of the net, fired on goal and it tumbled over Crawford's stick side.
With time winding down, it looked like we where headed back to Chicago for Game 7. Then with 1:16 left and their extra skater on, Duncan Keith found Toews cutting to the net and Toews found Bickell all alone in front of Rask and he scored through the five-hole. 17 seconds later and with Chicago surging, Johnny Oduya kept the puck in the Boston zone and fired on net. Dave Bolland was there to take the rebound off the post and gave Chicago a 3-2 lead with less than a minute left in the game.
Chicago would not relinquish the lead and won an unbelievable series with an unforgettable finish. Patrick Kane, who had 19 points in the playoffs, is your Conn Smythe winner and Chicago hoists the Cup in Boston while the Bruins pick up their jaws and try to figure out what the hell just happened.
