Chargers Linebacker Beats Down Bar Employee On Video, Gets Probation
The night of December 29, after the San Diego Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs to a playoff spot, Chargers linebacker Thomas Keiser went to a local bar called Barleymash with another man who was allegedly a relative. It was there that he got drunk, grabbed a Barleymash employee, threw him to the floor and punched him repeatedly.
Keiser was charged with misdemeanor battery. He posted bail for $8,000. On March 24, Keiser pled guilty in a plea deal and was sentenced to a fine, probation, and 20 hours of anger management counseling.
The incident, according to ABC10:
Sources said a manager told Keiser's father he was cut off from the bar because he had too much to drink. The linebacker bought another round anyway, and that is when the manager threw father and son both out, according to a source.
A source said Keiser then re-entered the bar and attacked the employee in what the owners called an "ambush."
Yesterday, ABC10 aired acquired surveillance video from Barleymash. There isn't raw video, but here's their segment on the incident. Embedding is disabled, but just click through it.
There's also a Vine with an excerpt of the video:
Keiser is in his second year of a two-year contract with the Chargers. The team has not publicly announced any punitive action against him.
