Carmelo Anthony Burnout Watch
This image was lost some time after publication. Everyone is all concerned about LeBron James these days, what with the hiring of his buddies as agents and the weirdship going on in the Cavs' front office. But, as always, it seems to be his buddy Carmelo Anthony who's in a vat of water that is considerably warmer. Anthony's recent run-in involves a Las Vegas nightclub, where he and his "crew" ("crew" is, we're told, another word for "posse") were turned away for wearing gang colors on his 21st birthday. (21?!) Story highlight:
He also showed up with 35 friends on Sunday at OPM, the hip-hop club at the Forum Shops at Caesars. OPM management, I'm told, informed them that they didn't meet the dress code and could enter only if they purchased $50,000 worth of bottle service upfront.
Anthony and Co. decided to pass and departed in several Cadillac Escalades.
Anthony has come under fire from U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., for appearing in a notorious underground DVD called "Stop Snitching" that anti-gang officials saw as glorifying retaliation violence. Anthony said he did not know he was being filmed for the video.
The same thing happened to us, by the way, when we tried to order breakfast at McDonald's after 10:30 a.m.
