Canucks Score Shorthanded Goal On Themselves
The Vancouver Canucks accomplished quite a feat Saturday night, not only scoring an own goal, but scoring a shorthanded own goal. It was so stupid.
Let's break it down. Before the video starts, Montreal's Lars Eller clears the puck, because the Canadiens are killing a penalty. Roberto Luongo goes behind the net to corral the puck; Travis Moen puts a little pressure on Luongo, but he dumps it off to Jason Garrison. Garrison leaves the puck for Dan Hamhuis. Hamhuis thinks he has it, but Garrison's skate jostles it. Hamhuis futilely tries to fix the unforced error as the puck slowly bounces off both of Luongo's skates and across the line for a 2-1 Canadiens lead.
Luongo sits on the ice, in disbelief that such a stupid goal will actually count against his stats. Tortorella looks like he wants to strangle someone with a smile on his face. Fin.
Eller was credited for the shortie. It was probably the easiest goal he's ever scored. The Canadiens won, 4-1.
