Canada Loses In Hockey Again

Eh, who can remember. But a lot of sports fans are feeling that way this morning when Canada lost in hockey again, this time to Germany in the Olympic men’s semifinal. The Canadians outshot the Germans, 15-1, in the final period but Germany held on for a 4-3 victory.
Here’s how the final seconds looked on the CBC, along with some very special analysis from Don Cherry:
Germany scored three times in the first 30 minutes—twice early in the second period—to grab an ultimately insurmountable lead against the heavily-favored Canadians. Patrick Hager’s goal midway through the second period made it 4-1 and was the game-winner.
Canada now won’t win gold in men’s or and women’s ice hockey or men’s and women’s curling. Incredible! They should have to ship other countries some of their ice now. They will play the Czech Republic in the bronze medal game. Germany will face another heavily favored opponent, the Olympic Athletes from Russia, in the gold-medal game.
