Browns Unveil New Logo
The Cleveland Browns revealed their new logos and color today, and it's a whole bunch of nothing! Just like the Cleveland Browns.
The primary logo remains largely the same—a helmet—but the font had changed, along with the shade of orange, and even the color of the facemask. The secondary logo is still a dog, but it's more cartoonish. A revamped version of Brownie the Elf will reportedly return as an alternate logo, but we'll withhold judgment on that until we see it.
Because the Browns likely paid some agency way too much money for this, every little change has to be justified as being symbolic. Witness the brandspeak:
Our updated helmet logo is reflective of today's modern Cleveland - the design honors the past while evolving into the future. The iconic brown and white stripes stand tall over the orange helmet - a new orange color that matches the passion of the Dawg Pound. The new brown facemask represents the strength and toughness of Cleveland.
This update is minor, and that's probably a good thing. The Browns have some of the best uniforms in sports, and this leads one to think their new uniforms—to be unveiled in April—won't be radically different.
