Bosnian Soccer Federation Apologizes To Greece For Their Player Getting Punched In The Mouth
Bosnian soccer federation president Elvedin Begic has officially apologized to his Greek counterpart after a June 9 post-match fight that climaxed when an assistant coach punched Greek forward Giannis Gianniotas so hard that he lost a tooth.
On top of that, Bosnian star Edin Dzeko sparred with his Roma teammate Kostas Manolas, shoving him in the throat a couple of times.
The chaos broke out after a 0-0 draw that featured more yellow cards (seven) than shots on target (six). The spat may have been caused by Bosnian fans who reportedly jeered the Greek national anthem. There already were some tensions between the two sides: The last time they met in November, Dzeko was sent off for pantsing Sokratis Papastathopoulos in one of the sillier red cards in recent memory.
There’s no word yet on any possible suspensions, or who’s footing the dental bill.
