Blues give F Oskar Sundqvist two-year, $3M extension

The St. Louis Blues signed forward Oskar Sundqvist to a two-year extension with a $1.5 million average annual value on Thursday.

Sundqvist, who turns 30 on March 23, returned to St. Louis for a second stint this season after playing for the club from 2017-22.

He has tallied 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) over 62 games, including a career-high-tying three power-play goals. He has averaged 13:29 of time on ice and won 41.1 percent of his faceoffs.

"It was my plan the whole time," Sundqvist told the team website. "I wanted to be part of the team and turning the ship around. For me personally, I didn't want to abandon it and leave (at the trade deadline). I wanted to stay here, help this team get back to being successful and getting back into the playoffs and (being) a competitor again. It was a huge part to stay here and hopefully help this team win hockey games."

In 417 career NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2015-17), Detroit Red Wings (2022-23), Minnesota Wild (2023) and Blues, Sundqvist has recorded 144 points (56 goals, 88 assists) and 171 penalty minutes. He has a career 43.1 percent success rate on faceoffs.
