Blake Bortles, Who Is Always Trash, Cannot Be Called Trash Today
Photo: Sam Greenwood/ [object Object] The Jacksonville Jaguars thumped the Houston Texans 45-7 Sunday, as QB Blake Bortles threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers. After the game, Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney admitted that the Jags soundly beat his team, but wouldn’t give Bortles any credit.
From the Houston Chronicle
Clowney replied: “He trash.”
Usually, this would be considered a fair assessment of Blake Bortles, but not anymore. At least, not for now. Jacksonville is undefeated this month, and Bortles hasn’t thrown a pick. His completion percentage in each game has been at least 66.7 percent, too:
Two of those three wins came against the Colts and Texans, a pair of hapless division opponents, but that other victory was against the Seahawks and legitimately impressive. This is the same guy whose summer highlights included pissing off his receiver Allen Robinson and turding it up on a nationally broadcast preseason game. Blake Bortles almost lost his job to Chad Henne and now he’s committed fewer errors in the month of December than Tom Brady! Maybe it’s because seemingly every other exciting, popular quarterback has been tossed into the threshing machine this season, but Blake Bortles—sorry, writing out his full name is the only way to actually absorb this—is an above-average quarterback, and the Jaguars are going to the playoffs for the first time since 2007. This is a good thing—right?
