Ben Roethlisberger's Shoulder Is All Messed Up
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was a guest on the Cook and Poni sports radio show this morning, and shed a bit more light on what exactly is wrong with his throwing shoulder, which he injured during Saturday’s Wild Card game against the Bengals.
Roethlisberger said he has a sprained AC joint as well as some torn ligaments in the shoulder. His prognosis doesn’t sound great:
“I’ll go in tomorrow with the intent to see what I can do,” Roethlisberger said. “I honestly don’t know. I haven’t tried to throw a football since the game, and maybe that’s not even the right thing to do right away. I’ll see the doctors and trainers tomorrow, we’ll evaluate kind of how I feel. If anything, maybe I can practice and hand off and still get some mental reps that way. So we’ll really just kind of see how it goes tomorrow.”
During his weekly press conference, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that the team is monitoring Roethlisberger’s condition on a day-to-day basis, and that Big Ben has a chance to play this Sunday against the Broncos. Maybe he’ll be able to suit up and take the field, but it’s hard to imagine a quarterback with a throwing shoulder in that kind of shape having much of a positive impact on the game.
