Barry Bonds Reportedly Let Go By Marlins
Photo credit: Rob Foldy/ [object Object] The Marlins will not retain Barry Bonds next year, per a report from Jon Heyman. Bonds signed on as Miami’s hitting coach before the season started, and it was his first MLB job since his last season playing for the Giants in 2007. Some of Miami’s numbers did improve during this injury-plagued season—they ended the year with the fourth-best batting average in MLB despite losing Dee Gordon for half of the season—but their OPS was the fourth-worst in baseball.
However, some gossip has been leaking out from Miami that indicates that Bonds’ problems may have been of a more interpersonal nature.
Hopefully the home run king will get another job in baseball soon. That is, if he wants one. It sounds like full-time coaching might have been too much for Bonds. Good news is, he’ll have more time to ride his bike now, as his Strava profile shows that his milage has declined in each of the past three months.
