Barcelona's Empty Stadium Match Lets Us Hear How Everyone Loves To Yell At Luis Suárez
Photo credit: Alex Caparros/ [object Object] Ever wonder what exactly players in the heat of a match talk about out there on the pitch? Well, thanks to Barcelona’s decision to play in an empty stadium last weekend due to the political turmoil in Catalonia, and because of the always stellar work by the Spanish soccer show El dia después, we now have a very intimate glimpse into these conversations. Maybe unsurprisingly, they apparently involve a lot of shouting at Luis Suárez:
As you can see at the end of the video, no one savages Suárez quite as harshly as Suárez himself does. “Fucking hell!” is a pretty fair translation of our favorite South American insult, “la concha tu madre,” but there’s still a little bit lost in translation when you leave out the fact that he was in essence insulting his own mother’s vagina.
