Auburn Upsets Texas A&M In College Station
Despite what looked like a fairly painful shoulder injury, Johnny Manziel did return to the game and was effective almost immediately. He came back in and lead a 12-play 75 yard scoring drive, capped off by a one-yard rushing touchdown. And then whatever they likely shot him up with started to wear off.
Auburn scored with 1:19 left to take a four point lead with the PAT. Everyone and his or her uncle thought Auburn left entirely too much time on the clock, giving A&M a surefire comeback win. With a healthy Manziel, that is probably the case, but he clearly and quickly deteriorated. He started off with a big connection to Mike Evans to midfield and then another down to the Auburn 20. Around this time you could see Manziel really favoring his right arm and stretching it out and grimacing.
The Aggies came closest to taking the lead when Manziel tried a back-footed heave into the endzone that was nearly intercepted in the end zone and then nearly caught by Evans. It fell to the ground and Manziel never threw another pass. He pulled the ball down three straight times, the second of which was a clear horse collar that went uncalled. The game ended on a 21-yard sack and Auburn held on to win 45-41.
