Attention Thief: MLS Coach Will Buy You New Boots If You Return The 32 You Stole
A shocking crime from great and peaceful nation of Canada: Some as-of-yet unidentified thief reportedly broke into the Vancouver Whitecaps’ training facility Monday night and absconded with a bunch of the players’ boots. Most likely inspired by the surrounding culture, the team’s manager has proposed a very Canadian solution.
According to the redundantly named MLSsoccer.com, the Whitecaps noticed the players’ cleats were missing from their training center on Tuesday morning, indicating Monday night as the time of the heist. The thief made off with 32 pairs, reportedly (and bizarrely) all size 9 or 10. One of the players shared a photo of the crime scene:
The coach, Welshman Carl Robinson, is not looking for the criminal to be thrown in jail or even to be met with some similar punishment. Robinson has instead implored the thief to return the boots—which hold considerable sentimental value for the players—with the promise that if they all come back, Robinson himself would even be willing to purchase the thief some new boots of his own:
Do the right thing, thief. Canada is counting on you.
