Wood set a program record with 19 strikeouts, which was the second-most in MCWS history and the most in a nine-inning game.
The first no-hitter in the MCWS in 65 years required 119 pitches, but Wood said his fastball felt great throughout the game.
"It didn't throw a pitch out of the stretch for a while," Gage told ESPN when asked when he realized how close he was getting to a no-hitter.
Oklahoma State's Jim Wixson recorded the last MCWS no-hitter, in 1960. The first was posted by Texas' Jim Ehrler in 1950.
Arkansas advances to face the loser of Monday night's game between LSU and UCLA, while Murray State was eliminated.
