Angels sign C Travis d’Arnaud to 2-year, $12M deal

The Braves' former No. 1 catcher hit free agency this offseason after Atlanta declined an $8 million option on d'Arnaud's contract for the 2025 season.
The 35-year-old batted .238 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs in 99 games in 2024. He was part of the Braves' 2021 World Series championship team and a first-time All-Star selection in 2022.
In five years with the Braves, d'Arnaud batted .251 with 60 home runs and 207 RBIs in 384 games. The veteran also spent time with the New York Mets (2013-19), Los Angeles Dodgers (2019) and Tampa Bay Rays (2019), and in 884 career games he is a .248 hitter with 123 homers, 438 RBIs and 374 runs.
He was a Silver Slugger award recipient in 2020 after batting a career-high .321.
In a corresponding move, the Angels designated right-handed pitcher Guillo Zuniga for assignment. Zuniga, 26, appeared in 15 games in 2024, his first season with the Angels, and amassed a 5.09 ERA in 17 2/3 innings.
