Alfonso Soriano Is A Yankee Again
The Yankees, who can't hit for shit, have officially acquired Alfonso Soriano from the Cubs. Soriano is old and streaky, and will therefore hit cleanup for New York tonight.
In return the Cubs will get Corey Black, the Yankees' fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft. A fireballer with surprisingly good not so great control, Black projects as a reliever with definite major league potential. Soriano is signed through next season, but the Cubs will pick up about three-fourths of the $24.5 million remaining on his contract.
Soriano is no stranger to the Bronx, having played for the Yankees from 2000 until 2003, when he was included in the trade that landed Alex Rodriguez. Soriano's most famous moment came in 2001, when he hit the gamewinning home run in Game 7 of the World Series. (I assume. I turned it off after that.)
