Adam Wainwright Almost Murdered A Bird, Randy Johnson Style
Photo credit: @ [object Object] Randy Johnson’s bird murder pitch remains maybe my favorite single pitch of all time. Baseball is a sport of massive data sets and averages, which makes strange wrinkles in the fabric of the game, like all 15 home teams winning, easier to appreciate. Johnson’s bird explosion job is the most videogenic example of this.
Anyway, Adam Wainwright proved how insane Johnson’s pitch was, by getting close to smashing this rather pretty yellow bird with a pitch, only for it to cheat death.
(Mobile readers, check it out here.)
That’s a player with RESPECT for the game, who DOESN’T MURDER birds.
